100 Miles on the Pacific Crest Trail in Oregon
This past week I got some much-needed wilderness experience hiking on the Pacific Crest Trail in Oregon. Although I have loved backpacking since I was a teenager, a trick ankle has kept me out of the sport for a while.
This time, however, my friends (above) introduced me to the new ultralight style of backpacking. So with a feather-light tent and other high tech gear I was able to cover 100 miles on the PCT over six days. Hiking in the Cascades around the Three Sisters peaks near Bend, Oregon, I was humbled and inspired by the magnificent beauty (below), and hope to get back into the wilderness again soon.
